Yeah, very disappointing since previous years so much more happened. I don't think a new GB was announced either. We'll know for sure once someone posts detailed notes from the meeting.

On the exjw Reddit, Absalom said that next year's annual meeting will be broadcast to all assembly halls at the same time. Something big coming next year?

Who is attending the 2016 Annual Meeting this Saturday?
by Londo111 ini'm curious if we will have eyewitness reporters at the stanley theater like we do every year....

We'll find out tomorrow, but I'm leaning to the side that no leaks equals something "big". I could be wrong of course. I always hope for crazy though. The crazier it is, the more people wake up.

The Annual Meeting is where they first announce changes and Nu Lite. So to the few of you saying that these are always a waste of time, I beg to differ. For example, the overlapping generations teaching was first announced at the Annual Meeting, about 9 months before it appeared in a Watchtower. (This was before they streamed the annual meeting).

Weekend visit from JWs.
by redvip2000 inhad a visit from the jws this week.
i've lived in this house since 2012 and this is the first time, they have reached me at home - quite the urgent work.. anyway, i was home on saturday morning and around 10am, there was a knock.

I also agree that anti-witnessing is a great way to start seeding doubts in people. Also, staying respectful and friendly helps a lot too. Yelling and slamming the door in witnesses faces does nothing except affirm that they "have the truth". But respectfully discussing things can cause the doubt to grow. I remember encountering a few people in service who managed to seed some doubts in me that I'm certain led to me later waking up. Like the humanist who knew a lot about religion, he might have actually been an ex-JW thinking back on it, who raised a lot of questions I couldn't answer. Now I see myself as a humanist. Funny how things work sometimes.

NYC is my favourite city in the world and try to visit at least once s year. In fact, I'll be there next weekend.
Everyone's suggestions are really good and I'll second the Brooklyn Bridge and Top of the Rock suggestions as both are my favourite things to do. I suggest taking a subway to the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn Bridge, eating dinner at one of the many good restaurants around there (I suggest Juliana's Pizza is you like pizza) and walking across the Brooklyn Bridge towards Manhattan when it's dark. Might be the highlight of your trip.
i also recommend taking the free Staten Island ferry to see the Statue of Liberty. Although it doesn't go to the island with the statute of Liberty, it goes very close so you can get great pictures. Can't argue with free.
NYC is a perfect walking city so I also just like picking a neighbourhood and exploring it. I like the Free Tours By Foot tour company. They are walking tours with a group of people and a guide. They are free except for a tip for your guide at the end of the tour. $10 or $20 per person is usually what I pay. They have a lot of 2 hour tours, food tours, and even 6 hour all in one tours. The first time I went to NYC I did an all in one 6 hour your after reading about this tour company on trip advisor and it was the best decision I ever made. Saw so much and had so much fun. Now I do their tours whenever I'm there. This trip I'm doing 3 different 2 hour tours.
Hope you have a good time!

Fade question: New Cong or stay.
by Darkknight757 ini have a question with regard to fading.
the wife and i have plans to move to another hall and continue our fade from the organization.
we are already missing quite a few meetings and we are not reporting time.

The hall I moved to is 30-45 minutes away and it worked perfectly. I agree with Lee Elder, try to find one far enough away, but not too far that going to your 1-3 meetings isn't too much of a chore. Try to find out when they receive your records. I got lucky when the COBE told me before one of the few meetings I attended in the new hall that they received my records. That turned out to be my last ever meeting. -

Plus, I made sure to pick a hall where I didn't know anyone. It was one of the few in my area where I didn't.
